Its Discovery
The Chicxulub crater was discovered relatively recently. Although it has been on earth for over 66 million years, Glen Penfield and Antonio Carmago only discovered it in 1978, while doing research for petroleum. That’s right, they were looking for oil when they found the crater.
In reality, most historic discoveries happen by chance. No one decided to go digging for relics, they just happened to find them.
