Madeline at first attempted to talk herself out of doing it. Maybe the girl was just going through some stuff in her life, nothing to worry about. This particular pattern of conduct, though, was all too familiar, and she had a sneaking suspicion that it had to do with Benjamin. Despite Brooklyn’s grumpiness, Benjamin sent out no such vibes. Right up until it was time for bed, he smiled.
