Hamnøy
The night before we stayed on one of those islands, parked among the stockfish racks with a view of the water and the mountains. We had never heard of or seen these ancient drying racks before moving to Norway five years ago. The practice of drying caught fish (typically cod in this region) so that they retain their nutritional value and shelf life for years. Dried fish heads are still scattered across the grass and rocks.
