Dorothy suddenly left one night
After having searched the house, John and Anna (who was around 8 at this time) started going around the neighborhood asking if anyone had seen Dorothy leave that night. They got lucky with a neighbor who lived across the street from them and had gotten home from a late shift around 1:00AM.
