The two boys didn’t hesitate as they approached the Army Ranger. They didn’t beat around the bush as they asked him if he had any money on him. Risdon made a point of not carrying any cash because it was safer. Also, credit cards were much simpler, more convenient, and less hassle to carry around. This kind of thinking was instilled in him by his military training. Nothing unnecessary or unneeded was carried around. It was more efficient that way.
