Soldier Stopped From Boarding Plane After He Cries At Gate

Brooks had never experienced this before. The tears came and they were streaming now. When he was stopped from boarding, another surge of emotion gripped him.

Passengers and airline crew were all around him. He had never meant to cause such a spectacle. “Stop! Don’t let him board that plane”. The words stunned him. This day had been a rollercoaster of emotion and he had no idea what to expect next.

Sacrifices

Brooks Lindsey and his wife, Haley met and fell in love at a young age. The courtship was a dream and both were already happy enough when they received the amazing news.

They were expecting their first child. Sadly, the timing was difficult as Brroks had already enlisted as a soldier and his schedule was unpredictable. Sacrifices came with the kind of career he’d chosen but he never imagined how much some of them would make his heartache.

Leaving Home

Not long after learning that Haley was pregnant, Brooks received his orders. As it turned out he was destined for a 9-month deployment to Kuwait.

The pair realized that the timing of his departure would cut it close to the time when their child was due to be born. Time went on anxiously and at the 7-month mark of Haley’s pregnancy, she and Brooks received some sad news.

The Training Schedule

In order to be ready for his deployment, Brooks was informed that he had to complete special training. Unfortunately, this meant he would have to travel to a training base in Texas.

This also meant that his training would overlap with the baby’s date. Brooks was crushed and the couple began searching for any way around this situation.

Special Leave

The couple did some digging and came across a process overseen by the Red Cross. It did allow a special dispensation for a soldier to be there for the birth of a child.

Suddenly, there was now hope again. It didn’t last long. After checking on the requirements to apply for this leave, Brooks was left devastated again.
