Hair Curlers in the 1940s
If aliens don’t actually exist and the idea came from someone’s head, it might’ve been because they saw this device, looking like it was slurping up information from this poor lady’s head. This contraption was found in many beauty shops across the country and required hairstylists to wrap the hair around the ends of the tube, which would then supply heat to form the curls. Luckily, people today don’t have to deal with this monstrosity since there are a myriad of ways to get curls, including methods that don’t require heat.
