Riding With Hitler
It’s safe to say that times of war and uncertainty bring about increased propaganda. And World War II was no different. During America’s involvement in the war, propaganda was used to help increase people’s support for the battle and also to bolster commitment to a victory for the Allies. This poster was created in an effort to encourage the conservation of gasoline so that it could be used for the war. It tried to bring across the point that riding alone was wasteful and that drivers who did this were actually showing support for Hitler, rather than their own country. Other propaganda campaigns involved food, rubber and metal.
