A Man’s Options During the Great Depression
Earlier we showed an image of a man who was having difficulty finding gainful employment during the Great Depression. He was a skilled, trilingual trade worker who simply wanted to make money to survive. Here, we see another desperate man who has a family (including a baby on the way) that’s depending on him to find a place to live. The alternative to not finding a home is what sticks out. The sad part is that this was the reality for many during that time; sources say that the national suicide rate jumped from 12.1 per 100, 000 people to 18.9 per 100, 000, and remained that way throughout the Great Depression.
