The picture of this butcher shop was taken in the 1930s in High Wycombe, England, at a time where not many people had access to freezers and fridges. It was also a time where not every town had supermarkets. It meant that families would travel, almost every day, to the butcher’s shop. One shop having to supply an entire town would mean that the large amount of meat hanging from the exterior would probably be sold out by day’s end.
