After the end of World War II, the cities in the countries where battles took place were in ruins. One of those places was Warsaw, Poland. The city had been home to more than a million people, but with about 72% of all residential buildings destroyed, more than 84% of the population left. Here, a photographer placed a picture of the city as it was before the destruction of the war. The changes, post-war, are as clear as day, something the people of Warsaw were eager to do away with.
