Disney’s Tribute to the One and Only, Jim Henson
When Jim Henson, the creator of the Disney-owned, Muppet franchise died in 1990, it was a big stab in the heart for all the people, kids and adults, who fell in love with Sesame Street over the years. As per Henson’s request, the funeral was far from sad or dreary. No one wore black, there was a medley of songs performed by Big Bird and the cast of The Muppets (at the time) closed out the procession. What many people don’t know, however, is that although Disney owned The Muppets, the two imaginative men never met. This image was drawn by a Disney Imagineer, who had Mickey Mouse consoling a weeping Kermit the Frog.
