Nothing They Can Do
John went to the police station to explain the situation to someone in person. He told them about the squatters with the expectation that they would be willing to go to the house immediately and remove them. To his surprise, a day or two later, the police returned to John with the news that they could do nothing. The squatters had shown them documents of some sort that granted them temporary residency in the house. John had never been more baffled in his life. The police believed them over him, the owner of the house!
