General Motors Aluminum Train
In the 1950s, many companies experimented with new technology including General Motors, who designed a high-speed aluminum bodied train. Although it was fast at the time, its top speed was only 100 miles per hour and it was so light that it couldn’t climb steep hills, so the prototype was abandoned by the company.
