This staying in character is taken very seriously when employees are asked questions. For instance, someone playing Peter Pan has to pretend that he doesn’t know what a MacDonald’s burger is – since he wouldn’t know what one is.
Ariel has no idea what a car is, and Jasmine will be puzzled at the notion of an airplane. They’re obviously trained on how to deal with these questions.
