Maybe It Was the Truth
My father passed on when I was six. My mom told me it was a heart attack while he was out at sea with the Navy.
In my teens, I assumed she might have been covering up something bad about him to spare my feelings and maybe he offed himself or passed of an overdose or something, because he wasn’t fat or unhealthy.
Cut to 20 years later, and seven of the eight siblings in his family have expired before the age of 60 because of heart disease-related issues. I’m starting to think it wasn’t a lie.
