Misinterpretation
Norwood eventually begged in one of his letters for Joyce to move to America so they could get married. Sadly, Joyce had misinterpreted what he had written and thought he had found someone else.
Joyce was heartbroken and didn’t respond with another letter. She didn’t receive any more from him either, but she would hear from him again.
