Most teens are excited about this age transition because it entails having the freedom to more “adult” things (at least, gradually) and her mom Christin had no problem with the idea, at all. In fact, she promised to shoulder the bill of having her daughter get highlights on her hair for the very first time. 

Hair highlights were not really a new thing at Kelsey’s school and, in fact, many of the girls there already had. Pretty and bubbly Kelsey thought that since she’s turning 13, she should have some, too.
