J.J. didn’t relate to most of his classmates because as the only child to a single father, he had struggles that other kids didn’t have. While growing up, his father was the only person in the world he could lean on when he was feeling blue, and in the back of his mind, he didn’t really want to travel too far away to go to college because he didn’t want to be away from his father for long.
