Peaceful… Far Too Peaceful
Zoey was surprised when the dog’s barking and the hammering on the door abruptly stopped. She waited for George to come up the stairs and reassure her that everything was OK, and he did not. She listened for someone coming up the stairs, but there was nothing, so she emerged from concealment. As quietly as possible, she made her way to the top of the steps to survey the scene below. When she heard what it was, it shook her up.
