Their Grandpa Disappeared From His Retirement Home, Then His Ring Was Found On An Employee
It’s always sad to realize that your parents can no longer take care of themselves. We have to make tough choices to help them. Andrea Rodriguez had to send her dad, Edgar, to a home for older people because she couldn’t look after him.
But then he disappeared, leaving everyone wondering where he went. Everyone involved was worried and looked for him for countless days.
What they soon discovered was a total surprise that left them all in shock…
A Happy Family
Andrea Rodriguez had a small family. It was just her, her husband, their daughter, and Andrea’s dad. They were happy together. But something sad happened when Andrea’s mom passed away. Andrea was heartbroken, especially for her dad. He was so used to being with his wife, and now she was gone.
Andrea worried that he might not be okay.
Checking on Edgar
After Andrea’s mom passed away, she made sure to visit her dad, Edgar, often with her daughter. She thought he would be sad for a little while, but she didn’t expect it to affect his health so much. Edgar didn’t want to eat or sleep and stayed inside most of the time.
He just sat in the living room, looking far away while holding a photo album of him and his wife. After six months, Andrea knew she needed to take action to help him.
Taking Him In
During one of their usual visits, Andrea told Valentina to run off and play in the playroom. While her daughter was preoccupied, Andrea sat down next to her dad in the living room. She took a deep breath as she turned to him.
“Dad?” she said, putting her arm on his. “I think it’s time we move you out of here and have you come stay with us,” she continued. He looked up at her, slowly, taking a moment to process what she said.
He nodded, and she sighed, not knowing just how much this step would affect all of their lives.
Her Wit’s End
The next few months were overwhelming as Andrea tried to balance working, being a mom, helping her dad move out, and situating her house so that he could move in. Though she had thought this was the right way to help her dad, she had never imagined it would be so difficult.
One night, just when Andrea didn’t think she could handle it anymore, she heard a bang and crash from somewhere upstairs. She threw down the coffee she was drinking and ran up the stairs. Before she could even get halfway, she stopped dead in her tracks, gasping at what she saw in front of her.
