“That’s my grandpa’s ring!” Valentina said excitedly, pointing at Misty’s left hand and pulling on her mother’s sleeve. Misty froze and then went to put her arm behind her back, but Andrea had already taken hold of her hand. Andrea pulled it closer to inspect the ring on her finger. It was a thin band of silver with intricate engravings all along it. Edgar had worn one that looked identical for as long as Andrea could remember.
