A Confession
Andrea started talking about her father, and all of the things he loved to do. She talked about his friends and his family, and everything he told Andrea about the retirement home. Then Andrea asked Misty to remind her of her dad’s favorite things, and which ones had disappeared with him. Misty ran through the list that she remembered, which matched up exactly to Andrea’s recollection as well—until Misty slipped up. See, his favorite sweater had been taken with him as well as a framed picture of Andrea and Valentina, but Misty had brought up a pair of his cufflinks that Andrea hadn’t remembered. As soon as the words were out of Misty’s mouth, it was written all over her face—she knew she’d messed up.
