Moving In
Andrea wheeled Edgar into the retirement home, with Valentina by her side. They had already moved suitcases full of clothes, pictures, and trinkets—even his favorite cuff links, but still, the frown on Edgar’s face wouldn’t leave. Valentina gave her grandfather a big hug, which made him smile a bit, but it didn’t stick. Andrea then hugged her dad, telling him how happy she was for him to be taken care of and be able to socialize with others. They would visit often, Andrea told Edgar. How could she have known that she would break her own promise?
