A Scorcher
The heat had been getting worse from the week before. The weather stations had warned of a heatwave but no one had expected it to be this bad. Conditions became almost unbearable, especially when Ellis had to drive around all day on patrol.
Ellis kept a gallon of water inside his car for emergencies. In these conditions, he wondered if it was even worthwhile doing so, considering how warm it was likely to get. However, his decision to keep it would prove to be a fortuitous one.
