Under the bed, Janet was hidden, all ears listening to those fateful words, unbeknownst to Marcus. As she covered her mouth, she was shocked and heartbroken. “It’s all clear now, darling. She’s gone. Come on over,” Marcus said.
Marcus continued to talk. Trying to maintain a hushed tone, he said, “I’m looking forward to seeing you too.”
“Don’t let anyone see you coming in. I don’t want trouble.” Janet’s eyes welled with tears.
