The weight of Janet’s actions settled in as she nodded. “Marcus, you’re right. I promise to do better, to trust you completely.”
As Marcus pulled his wife closer, he smiled. He kissed her and put his phone back in his pocket.
The phone record was deleted in time, so he escaped this time. In a literal sense, it was a close call.
