1,000-Year-Old Viking Ship on a Farm
The team of archaeologists found something unexpected while using ground penetrating radar on a farm in Norway – a ship dating back to either the Merovingian or Viking Period, buried only two feet below the surface. The discovery was a total surprise: they had come there for a different expedition, totally unaware of the ancient burial mound from one-thousand years ago that they were about to uncover. The same technique used to discover the Gjellestad Ship in Norway was employed during this journey.
