4,500-Year-Old Goddess Statue, Palestine
While working in the Gaza Strip, farmer Nidal Abu Eid stumbled upon a 4,500-year-old limestone sculpture of Canaan goddess Anat. Known for her beauty, love, and war, this deity had an “inscription of a snake” on its head, an iconic image of her power rooted in history. Experts believe she inspired the Grecian goddess of war, Athena, who is also often surrounded by snake imagery. Clearly, the discovery is a significant one.
