America’s Largest Diamond Found in Arkansas

America has had some unexpected diamond discoveries, including the most notable of these finds – the largest diamond ever found in the U.S., the 40.23 carat Uncle Sam. Discovered in Murfreesboro, Arkansas in 1924, the white gemstone with a pink cast was eventually sold for an impressive $150,000 in 1971 to a private collector. Converted to today’s standards, the value of Uncle Sam reaches an estimated $1 million, with Arkansas State Parks describing it as a “one in a billion gem”.
