Vets Discover Rescue Dog Pregnant With Cow Pups
Rosie was heavily pregnant when they decided to rescue her. They had rescued many dogs before, but they had never seen anything like this before
They were baffled as they watched the puppies emerge. They had a million questions, but they knew that they had to find help right away.
Left Behind
Rosie was a golden retriever mix late into her pregnancy when her owners decided to leave her at the shelter.
The shelter didn’t have the resources to look after a litter of puppies, and staff grew worried as her pregnancy was approaching its end. Rosie needed someone urgently.
Helping Hands
The shelter’s manager knew of a place that could provide Rosie with exactly what she needed. It was the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue. They specialized in rehabilitating golden retrievers and they would find foster homes for these pups until they would get adopted.
As luck may have it, one of their staff had the perfect couple in mind.
Vet Visit
When the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue picked Rosie up from the shelter, one of the volunteers noted that Rosie was extremely far along, and that she could go into labor before they even made it to a vet.
Luckily they did manage to get Rosie to the vet in time, and they determined that she was in perfect health. The next step was for them to find Rosie a suitable and experienced foster family. They would need someone that could assist her during labor.
Foster Family
John and Katie Black loved fostering animals and especially dogs. They had been doing it since 2009 and by this point, they had fostered over 20 dogs. The volunteer knew that they would be perfect to assist Rosie during labor.
It was just five days after her previous owners had abandoned Rosie at the shelter, and here she was, being welcomed into the Black’s household. They never could have foreseen how this would turn out.
