Her Grandfather
Since he reminded her of her grandfather, Eva was fond of Carl. As a child, Eva moved to Kansas with her grandparents.
She had lost both parents a year earlier, and since her close family wasn’t able to help, her grandparents stepped up to help. Unfortunately, Kansas wasn’t the most hospitable state back then.
