A Possible Way Out
Up ahead, he could see lights coming from one of the rooms. Inspecting his rifle to ensure it was ready for action, he began sneaking closer to the room’s open door. This might be his only way out. He wasn’t sure he could find his way back to where he came from, and even if he could, he wasn’t sure he wanted to.
He was starting to have a sneaking suspicion that he wasn’t sent here to kill anything. He was sent here to die.
