Going into the forest herself
There was only one way to find out in Jessica’s mind, and that was to go into the forest herself and see what was there. Until now, she had only taken short walks near the edges alone but had never gone in deep, never gone where Steven went so often. It also did not help that he never wanted her to go with him on these walks. In Steven’s words, “They already did so much together and this was his thing”. He wanted to keep it that way.
