Searching his backpack
To her relief, her husband had not moved from his spot. He was crouching and rummaging through his backpack and Jessica assumed that he was looking for something, but she had no idea what it could be. Perhaps he had gotten lost and he was looking for a compass? Or was he getting hungry and wanted to get a snack? She could use a snack herself, she thought… But when she saw what he had taken out of the bag, she was surprised and a bit confused.
