Betty was tired, but she didn’t want to break up. Since the prospect of leading so many stairs terrified her, she sent Mike up there on his own. After making some room for herself, she sat down on the sofa. While she waited for Mike to return, the stress of the situation began to wear on her. She felt like such an idiot.
