He never told her much about his life before meeting her, instead evading all her investigations. His story was that he was an only child who was orphaned shortly after starting college. He remained single after a brief relationship in college, he claimed, and like her recently moved to Colorado. This is why she never questioned the lack of her friends and family at her wedding. But now it all seemed suspicious.
