Even though the ring’s owner was overjoyed by the turn of events, she preferred that no one learn her true identity via the media. She may have been reticent to flaunt her newfound fortune because she felt awkward doing so, or because she feared for her safety if word got out. It was respected that she preferred to keep a low profile.
Wyndham said that the unknown lady was, in fact, overjoyed by the events, calling her “very happy as anybody would be in her situation.” She made the right choice by remaining nameless and safe rather than gaining fame and inviting danger by doing so. Insightful and sage, she is a rare find.
