Tick Tock
Rachel’s fingers tapped impatiently on the armrest, the rhythmic pattern syncing with her rising heartbeat. She squinted to see the small clock hanging on the opposite wall. To her disbelief, 45 minutes had already passed since Nurse Clara left the room.
“How long does it take to check a patient’s file?” she mumbled to herself.
The ticking of the clock became increasingly pronounced in the silent room, reminding Rachel of the agonizing wait.
