The little boy and the dog became inseparable. Tom named her Lucy Jr., and they spent every moment together. Lucy Jr. seemed to know that Tom was special to her, just as her mother had known. She was gentle with him, patient, and always eager to play with him. “This was all meant to be,” Tom’s mother said smiling afterwards.
