Wells was insanely good in 2006, hitting .303/.357/.542 with 32 home runs, 106 RBI, 17 steals, and Gold Glove honors. Though he managed to mix two pretty good seasons into his ensuing seven-year, $126 million contract, he wasn’t close to worth the money, hitting .253/.302/.428 and getting traded twice and released once in that span.
