The Manager Responded Dismissively
“Nothing much,” the manager responded dismissively, his tone nonchalant. “Just making conversation.” He gestured for one of the guards to join him. “Please accompany our customer to her car,” he instructed. “Assist with her bags, will you?”
The guard nodded, indicating for Melissa to follow him towards the store exit. Puzzled by the manager’s behavior, Melissa couldn’t shake off a sense of unease.
Nonetheless, she was eager to leave the store as soon as possible. Little did she know that by the end of the day, her life would be irrevocably changed.
