“I found this in your car,” Cindy stated, presenting the baby cup. “The glove box popped open when I hit a speed bump.” Anticipating her husband’s response, she braced herself for his defense.
“Oh, that? That belongs to my work colleague,” Greg explained. “I gave him a ride home recently, and he must have left it behind in the car by mistake. I’ve been meaning to return it to him, but it slipped my mind.” His explanation hung in the air, leaving Cindy to weigh its credibility.
